Is it safe to update OpenClaw? This page reads the open issues on openclaw/openclaw every few hours and gives each recent release a verdict. Updated 2026-10-12 05:57 UTC.
Every recent stable release has open crash or P0 issues. If yours works, stay where you are.
Newest extended-stable (LTS) release with no known blockers: 2026.8.35. New installs that need stability can start there with openclaw update --channel extended-stable. Moving an existing install down from a 2026.9.x release is a downgrade and needs a pre-update backup, because newer releases migrate your databases.
Update already failed? Look up your reason code (global-install-failed, runtime-verification-failed, plugin-target-unavailable and more).

Method: for each release we search openclaw/openclaw for issues opened in the 14 days after it shipped that name the version in their title or body. P0, impact:crash-loop, impact:ux-release-blocker and bug:crash are the maintainers' own labels. Rolling back on your own? Read the official updating guide and the update troubleshooting page first. Newer releases migrate your SQLite databases, and older releases can't open them, so back up your state before you downgrade.
